How does the point system work?
You or your team will get points for the activities that you complete. The points for each activity are posted next to the activity. As you accumulate points, you will be eligible for points and you will advance through the different levels of the game.
What do I get for my points?
Each month, three winners get prizes. The individual or team with the highest points gets a cash prize, the second place winner gets a Prize Pack, and the third place winner gets a cash prize and is randomly chosen from the remaining players. You can increase your chances of winning the third place prize by accumulating more tickets. The more activities you do, the more tickets you will get.
What is in a Prize Pack?
It’s a surprise! Your Prize Pack will be a wonderful collection of goodies such as a t-shirt, a jump drive, a button, a pen, a bumper sticker, and so on. You won’t know what exactly you win until you get your Prize Pack in the mail!
Why do I get points and prizes for doing good work?
We know that you would want to make your community more welcoming anyway. We just think it’s more fun to offer points and prizes and make it into a game. Plus, you get to connect with people doing this work across the nation and hear about how their work is going.
What are the different levels?
As you progress on Friends of Welcoming, you will naturally “level up” as you earn more and more points. Levels are a fun way to reward those users who are the most active and welcoming members of the site. Each level comes with a distinct name and a corresponding badge. How do we become an affiliate?
If you are working to win the grant money to start your own affiliate, keep doing the activities and stacking up points. As you get to the higher levels, you will be contacted by a staff person at Welcoming America to discuss next steps.
